Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 - 5pm or 9am-5:30pm

We are delighted to be working with a local business who are currently seeking an experienced Merchandiser to join their team. The successful applicant will need to have proven working knowledge of accurate planning, effective stock management and consistent monitoring of performance.

The core duties include but are not limited to:

  • Driving the business by accurate planning and achieving/exceeding targets
  • Developing the commercial strategy by managing and evaluating key profit drivers to recommend different and effective approaches
  • Strategically develop seasonal sales phasing while managing spending and maximising on profit. Reflect this in product launches and markdown phasing
  • Continuously review current performance, maintaining the required stock levels in order to react and maximise on current sales
  • Work with the buyer and use analysed data from previous years to make commercial trading decisions, minimising any potential risk
  • Manage stock in line with company stock targets
  • Ensure the team liaises with Branch Merchandisers to guarantee balanced stock distribution in line with forecasts
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of outside retail activity that may impact on product performance, initiating solutions to minimise risk
  • Work with the buyers and designers to create a balanced commercial range for the target market, ensuring that the range reflects brand/customer profile
  • Build a framework based on product trends, managing critical path and keeping buyers informed at each stage
  • Utilise supply base/chain to react to in-season trends
  • Work with the buyers to identify any delays in product delivery that could have a negative impact
  • Manage host expectations on realistic delivery of new stores and modernisation
  • Motivate and inspire team with clear vision for the future
  • Review team progress towards achieving department goals

Key skills required:

  • Proven working experience as a Merchandiser
  • Team management and development
  • Excellent communications skills across all levels
  • Develops lasting working relationships both internally and externally
  • Highly numerate with an analytical mind
  • Easily adapts to changing situations
  • Good understanding of the industry and competitors
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
