School Caretaker

Caretaking role immediately available undertaking planned and preventative maintenance tasks and day to day upkeep of the site for a school in the Nidderdale area.

This role is initially available on a temporary basis but may lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.

The role:

• Ensuring the general upkeep of the site and dealing with day to day issues as they arise
• Opening up, locking up of the building
• Undertaking planned buildings and ground maintenance
• Undertaking security checks, fire alarm testing, maintaining emergency lighting
• To undertake any care taking or porter services required
• To help set up furniture, rooms and equipment for meetings and events
• Undertake minor repairs, decoration and general upkeep
• Installation of fixtures and fittings, clearing of drains, gullies, guttering
• Ensuring work in carried out in accordance with strict health and safety guidelines
• Carrying out routine checks and maintaining appropriate records

You will:

• Come from a care taking / maintenance background
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service
• Be able to undertake basic plumbing, joinery, decoration, and general maintenance and repairs
• Have worked in a building maintenance, handy person or school caretaker capacity previously
• Be well presented and personable
• Be organised and able to work to set daily job targets
• Have a full clean driving licence
• Have experience of working to PPM schedules
• Have basic computer skills and be able to fill out maintenance reports
