The Role
Customer Service Representative required to work for a successful supply chain and distribution company who has an excellent reputation for providing a fantastic working culture.
Custom Compliance Assistant responsibilities:
Data Management & Analysis
- Ensure accurate recording and application of tariff codes for all import and export transactions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify and resolve discrepancies in tariff data.
- Communicate tariff and regulatory updates to relevant internal teams.
- Monitor open purchase orders and forecast expected duty and VAT payments.
- Submit and verify import and export requests with customs brokers.
- Record and track the completion of import entries.
- Conduct audits of customs entries to ensure accuracy of declared data, tariff codes, and duty/VAT calculations.
- Prepare import documentation and templates, including CHED-P, IPAFFS, and dutiable import files.
Compliance & Documentation
- Oversee verification of import/export documentation, including Export Health Certificates (EHCs).
- Classify new products using the UK and EU Trade Tariff systems.
- Maintain accurate customs entry records and ensure timely submission of all documentation.
- Coordinate with customs agents, suppliers, and internal teams to meet country-specific import/export requirements.
- Submit export requests and review MSS data reports to identify and resolve variances.
- Support internal audits and maintain up-to-date systems reflecting HS code or regulatory changes.
- Research customs requirements for imports and exports to and from new international markets.
- Assist with packaging compliance and data management activities.
Custom Compliance Assistant requirements:
The successfully appointed Customs Compliance Assistant will have the following skills and abilities:
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions and communicate effectively.
- Organised, focused, and capable of working independently and within a team.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in customs, supply chain, or purchasing roles is desirable.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
