The Role

We are working with a well-established fire systems business operating across high-end commercial and residential projects to recruit a Fire & Security Systems Designer. This is a full-time, permanent role based at either their Burgess Hill Head Office or London Satellite Office, with travel to sites across the UK. The successful candidate will join a collaborative technical team and play a key role in delivering compliant and coordinated life safety system designs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing fire alarm, security, voice alarm, and related life safety systems to British Standards (BS 5839, BS 8629, BS 6266, etc.)
• Producing design documentation, device layout drawings, cable schedules and BOQs
• Liaising with clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure design compliance
• Conducting site surveys and attending design/progress meetings
• Supporting tender and project delivery teams with technical input
• Ensuring designs meet regulatory and client specifications
• Using AutoCAD and other design tools to produce accurate layouts
• Providing technical advice and design validation
• Coordinating with internal departments to ensure smooth project delivery
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and innovations

Requirements

Previous experience in fire alarm and/or security system design (Level 3) is highly desirable, along with a good working knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and design software tools is desirable. FIA or equivalent technical qualifications are highly desirable. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a Fire Systems Designer, Security Systems Designer, or Life Safety Systems Engineer.
