Senior Laboratory Technician - Materials Testing

Location Northampton

Contract Permanent

Salary £28,500 - £30,500

Working Hours Monday to Friday 40 hours

Our client is a leading European Provider of analytical testing services across air, water, soils, aggregates, bituminous and cementitious construction materials. We are seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our clients materials testing team. As a Senior Laboratory Technician, will play a key role in delivering high‑quality testing and analysis across a range of construction materials, This is a hands‑on technical position suited to someone who thrives in a laboratory environment and takes pride in producing accurate, reliable data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out advanced laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, bituminous and cementitious materials in accoirdance BS EN and UKAS standards
  • Ensure day‑to‑day laboratory operations, and testing is completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.
  • Organisation of Laboratory Technician in conjunction with SupervisorsPrepare, review and validate test reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity for internal and external clients.
  • Training & authorising other team members on test methods as required
  • Cross checking other team members calculations following tests,
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records and quality documentation
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean and tidyOther duties as and when required.

Person Specifics

  • Close attention to detail and understanding of operating within a quality system.
  • Experience in materials testing (Laboratory)
  • Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office base, in particular Excel and Word).
  • Team Player.
  • Punctual with excellent timekeeping.
  • Strong prioritising and organisational skills.
  • Positive attitude towards changes.
  • Adaptability to use various in-house systems and follow procedures.
  • Experience of working in challenging physical environments.
  • To ensure that all laboratory works are carried out to the standards laid out in the Quality Manual and Health & Safety Manual.
  • To take responsibility for your own Health & Safety
