£26,400 per annum plus OT and call out

We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer / Technician to support special purpose equipment in commercial vehicles. We seek candidates with confident mechanical and electrical fitting, fault finding and repair skills who are happy to do a field based role covering Yorkshire, Humberside and the M62 Corridor.

Duties will include:
.Attending to vehicle call outs in a timely manner to ensure minimum down time
.Servicing , fault finding and repairing of specialist electrical and mechanical systems
.Using a laptop to diagnose electrical and software faults
.Working to engineering drawings
.Producing equipment breakdown and repair reports
·Responding to breakdown call outs
.Fixing locking equipment
·Re-wiring cables and looms and assemblies
·stripping and refitting mechanical parts
·Managing engineering stock

The successful Field Service Engineer / Vehicle Engineer will enjoy working on their own and be flexible in their approach to working hours - this role will involve working rotating shifts (either 6-2.30pm or 1.30pm to 10pm, rotating each week), with occasional weekends (excellent overtime rates). In addition you will be on call 1 week in 3 (paid enhanced rate).

Skills and experience:

·HNC or ONC in Mechanical or Electrical engineering would be ideal
·Have previously worked in a Field Service capacity - candidates who have worked for vehicle recovery / breakdown service would be ideal, as would applicants from the armed forces
·Strong mechanical skills - able to strip out, repair and replace
·Good electrical wiring skills - able to read and follow drawings
·Able to fault find and work on their own initiative
·Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

The successful candidate will join a well established organisation - you will receive full training in their products and services and be given all the guidance and support needed to undertake the role.
Please note applicant will have to spend 2 weeks in Cheltenham for training.
