OVERVIEW
Tool Room Machinist / CNC Machinist
Location - Sheffield S4 near Meadowhall
Duration - Permanent position
Hours - Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm (39 hours) plus overtime
Salary - £21,200 - £23,626 (£10.50 - £11.65 ph) depending on experience plus overtime paid at a premium of x1.3 midweek, x1.5 Saturday and x2 Sunday.

The Client:
Due to extended growth and continuous product development and innovation, a Sheffield based manufacturing company has an opportunity for an experienced General Tool Room Machinist / CNC Machinist to join this very successful, secure and growing business in the Sheffield area. They are based 5 minutes from the Meadowhall area and have excellent bus and tram links from the city centre and surrounding area.

Job:
As a Tool Room / CNC Machinist you will work as part of a team of 4. You will be based within the Toolroom and will be reporting to the Tool Room Supervisor. You will contribute towards the successful refurbishment and maintenance of press tooling equipment. We are open to hearing from candidates with a range of experience but as a minimum requirement you must have setting and operating experience.

Day to day responsibilities as a Tool Room Machinist / CNC Machinist will include;

* Refurbishing and maintaining existing tooling/ fixtures to satisfy production requirements
* Setting and operating CNC Milling machines
* Fabrication
* Use of CNC lathes, drills and grinders to manufacture tools to tight tolerances
* Using a range of Metrology equipment to carry out bench/tool fitting duties
* Seeking ways to improve tooling
* Maintain adequate supplies of tooling spares and consumables / materials

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to develop their machining experience within different areas including milling, grinding and turning.

Criteria:
The position requires a candidate who is competent in the setting and operating of CNC and traditional Milling machines and who is also an excellent problem solver and fault finder.
You must also be:
* Have minimum of 3 years experience in a machining role
* Be able to work on own initiative
* Excellent metal forming, fabrication and machining techniques
* Able to demonstrate a track record of improving production processes via re engineering of press tool designs

The salary for this role is dependent on experience but is around £23,000. Overtime is also available which is paid at a premium rate of time and a third and Saturday is paid at time and a half. Sundays are also available during busy periods which is paid at double time.
