Transport Manager - c.£35k - Doncaster

Hours: 8am-5pm Mon-Fri with Saturday mornings being required to undertake work not possible during normal operations

Salary:  £35k 

Holidays: 28 days per year (20+8) increasing to 22+8 after 2 years (holiday allowances are currently being reviewed)

Pension: Workplace pension, currently the standard 3%/5% split

A permanent position for a Transport Manager to replace the retiring TM and eventually named on the O-licence, and be responsible for ensuring fleet compliance in line with transport/environmental legislation. Supported by your Transport Office Assistant and with the backing of an onsite Fleet Engineer. You will report directly to the company director.

The duties of the Transport Manager include:

Being approachable and open to drivers, planning routes and giving work instructions, monitoring performance, ensuring daily checks and compliance with EEC & Domestic driving rules and dealing with tachograph infringements.

Assisting with the management and operation of the site transfer station, site yard and site workshops, ensuring, all parties are compliant with Road Transport and HGV operating legislation.

Help to drive and maintain company HSE policies, ensure that all aspects of Health & Safety are adhered to; such as organising H&S training, updating drivers on operating procedures, near miss reporting and following/delivery of site procedures.

Ensuring the business adheres to all road haulage legislation and waste regulations, ADR etc.

Effectively manage/help maintain vehicle defect reporting system and assist the Fleet Engineer with the I.T. based management of vehicle inspections, booking and compliance filing.

Ensure sufficient stock of serviceable skips/containers is available.

As the Transport Manager, you will already have:

Experience from within a Transport Planning role, managing others and striving to get things done.

Excellent planning skills and be able to comfortably organise your own workload to meet key deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills, showing success and stability in previous roles.

Up to date with driver & vehicle legislation and requirements such as: driver hours/working time directive, digital tachograph legislation, operator's licence legislation, UK driving rules legislation.

Good I.T. skills; A good working knowledge of MS Office and the ability to learn how to use new apps and software.

You will hold/be working towards:

• CPC for Transport Managers in Road Haulage (required).

• Transport Planning experience: 5 years+ (essential).

• Waste industry experience (preferred).

• Waste qualification e.g.WAMITAB (advantageous).
