£22,000 - £24,000 depending on experience plus overtime

Permanent position
Monday - Thursday 8am - 4.30pm Friday 8am - 3.30pm (39 hr week)

We are recruiting for a Vacuum Melter / Furnace Operative to work for our prestigious client based in Sheffield on a full time permanent basis. Our client will provide all fork lift training aswell as crane training.

This role comes with a fantastic benefits package including 22 days annual leave plus stats (30 in total) increasing to 35 days over 5 years. In addition to this you will also benefit from private Westfield health care, a pension, free car parking, on site canteen facilities, uniform and premium paid overtime. Work carried out over 39 hours pw is paid at a premium of x1.3 during the week, x1.5 Saturday and x2 Sunday. You will receive a 30 minute lunch break each day alongside a 10 minute break during the morning. Salaries are paid on a monthly basis.

As a Foundry / Furnace Operative you will be reporting into the Foundry Supervisor. Responsibilities include:

Foundry Melting Operative will be involved in all day to day operations of Induction Melting, Vacuum induction melting and Vacuum arc re-melting.

Complete a minimum of 30 melts on the Induction skull melting and Vacuum arc re-melting furnace to obtain official melting qualifications/sign off.

Ensure pre melt checks are undertaken.

Weigh out melt / heat charge weight.

Ensure all charge material is from certified stock.

Take receipt of ceramic moulds from the shelling department and set up ready for vacuum melting.

Sit in and participate on all vacuum melt heats.

Complete foundry melt sheets and scan for records.

Record all information from each melt as per operating procedure and input into WIP.

Remove mould and assembly from furnace after casting and dismantle moulds as per operating procedure.

Record and report any NCR's that are identified after casting.

Complete route card as required.

Transfer castings to the next department within the process loop.

Ensure high levels of housekeeping at all times.

Create, update and maintain all relevant technical documents including operating procedures, quality assurance etc.

The melting operative will be involved in both disciplines of melting so previous experience of working with furnaces / melting at some level is essential.
