Job Title: Warehouse Operative

Location: Burgess Hill (outskirts - will require own transport)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm

Salary: £8.21 per hour

Duration: Temp to Perm

We are delighted to be working with a local specialist in their field, who are seeking additional Warehouse team members to join them on a Temp to Perm basis. The successful candidate will join a small and well-established team and become an integral part of the warehouse functions.

The role requires someone personable, engaging and highly driven, with previous warehouse experience to compliment the existing members. Progression and skill building is highly encouraged so this is a great opportunity to join a fantastic company.

Main Responsibilities

Initially this role will see the Warehouse Operative take responsibility for picking stock for outgoing orders using a barcode scanning system. This will progress onto other duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all Goods in received are correct and all part codes, materials and quantities match stock paperwork
  • Book incoming goods into internal stock system and ensure GRN's for purchase orders and invoices are correct
  • Alert any discrepancies regarding incoming goods to Warehouse Manager
  • Follow process of storing stock in correct locations within warehouse
  • While picking stock for outgoing orders, ensure all orders are picked and processed within delivery guidelines as required by customer
  • Any shortfalls for stock required for outgoing orders must be brought to the attention of the Line Manager/Stock Controller immediately
  • Packing goods including individual parcels and pallets - store in set locations ready for different couriers and pick up times
  • Follow dispatch process ensuring all bookings, labels and paperwork are present and correct
  • Conduct general housekeeping of warehouse, dispatch department and store all equipment when not in use
  • Ensure all H&S procedures are followed and all required PPE is worn at all times

Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in a high order picking volume Warehouse
  • An understanding of pick rates and the impact of not hitting pick rate targets
  • A forklift licence would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Good level of fitness due to standing for long periods of time
  • Excellent team player and highly dependable
  • Reliable, good time keeping and organised
  • Must have access to own transport due to location
